Welcome to the new version of Miami-Dade County's website. We'd love your feedback. While we're at work, you may be directed to miamidade.gov, which is still your primary source for information.

Update Your Pet's Account

Each pet has an individual account assigned to them when they receive their rabies vaccination and license. If you bring your pet into Animal Services to receive one of our Vaccination Packages or received a rabies vaccination from your veterinarian, this information is stored in your pets account.

If your contact information (name/address) has changed or your pet has passed away, lost or given away, please update your account by calling us to prevent erroneous citation from being issued.

  • When to Notify Animal Services

Notify us if in writing or in person if your name or address changes, your pet is no longer in your possession or if your pet passes away. It is important to keep your account information up to date to help ensure that we can reunite you with a lost pet. Accurate information also helps insure that we do not issue you a citation in error.

    • Your address changes
If you have moved within Miami-Dade County, please provide both your old and new address. If you are moving outside of Miami-Dade County, please provide the month and year of the move.
    • Your name changes
Provide both your old and new name.
    • Your pet is lost, stolen or given away
If your pet was lost or stolen, provide the date and details of the incident. If you are giving away your pet, both parties must complete the necessary paperwork in person. Alternatively, the new owner must bring an original, notarized letter from the previous owner transferring ownership.
    • Your pet passes away
If your pet passes away, please attach a copy of the Death Certificate from the veterinarian or animal clinic.
