Adopt a Pet
If you are 18 years of age or older, you can adopt a pet from our Pet Adoption and Protection Center.
Adopting a shelter pet is a low cost, personally satisfying alternative to purchasing a pet from a pet store.
- Puppies and Kittens under 4 months in age come with their first set of vaccines; de-worming, spay/neuter surgery*, microchip and FeLV test for cats.
- Dogs and cats over 4 months come with all vaccinations, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, microchip, heartworm test (over 6 months in age), rabies license tags (for Miami-Dade County residents only) and FeLV test for cats.
* Animals under 3 months, less than 3 pounds or with health issues, will not be sterilized or vaccinated for rabies. A $50 refundable deposit will be required and an appointment will be scheduled for the spay/neuter surgery within 30 days or when they are 4 months of age.
You can begin your search by browsing the list of pets available for adoption. The same list also offer the opportunity to search for your lost cat or dog. Although you can search online, you must personally visit one of the various adoption locations or events to adopt a pet. Lost pet claims must also be done in person at the Pet Adoption and Protection Center.
Shelters dogs and cats make good pets and reward their rescuers with lifelong loyalty and affection. Find your furry friend today!
