Welcome to the new version of Miami-Dade County's website. We'd love your feedback. While we're at work, you may be directed to, which is still your primary source for information.

Citations are issued for failure to comply with County ordinances or laws. You can pay for the citation by phone, in person, by mail or online. If you receive a notice and would like to dispute it, you may file an appeal.

  • Paying a Citation

Citations can be paid online using a major credit card, by calling the Clerk of the Courts, in person at the Clerk of Courts office, at any County courthouse or by mail.

    • The citation number must be referenced on all check payments.
    • Check, money order or cashier's check must be made payable to: Code Enforcement, Clerk of Courts.
  • Appealing a Citation

You may request an administrative hearing to appeal a citation deemed valid.

Requests must be submitted in writing within 20 calendar days from the date issued. You will be notified of a hearing date by mail.

Requests can be faxed or mailed.

  • Citation in Collections

Once a citation has been transferred to the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Credit and Collections Unit, you can only communicate directly with them.

Accounts that have reached collections may result in increases to the outstanding balances for interest, court costs and attorney fees.
