Meals on Wheels

Miami-Dade County residents, age 60 or older with a disability or homebound, may be eligible to receive free meals at home or by visiting a senior center.

  • How to Apply

    Call the office or visit a Senior Center for more information. A screening will be conducted by telephone. Help is available in English, Spanish and Creole.

    Preference will be given to low-income older individuals, including low-income minority older individuals, older individuals with limited English proficiency, and older individuals residing in rural areas.

  • Meals on Wheels Home Delivery

    Eligible participants receive seven frozen meals each week, along with fresh fruit, milk and other food items. The free meals are delivered between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

    • You must live in Miami-Dade County.
    • You must be 60 years of age or older.
    • You must have a disability or be homebound (unable to leave your home without any assistance).
    • Spouses are eligible without any age restrictions or medical condition.
    • You may qualify if you have a disability and are under 60 years of age, reside with an eligible Meals on Wheels client, and are dependent on them for home care.
  • Meals at a Senior Center

    There are 22 meal sites in Miami-Dade County. Eligible participants receive daily nutritionally-balanced hot meals, nutrition education, counseling, transportation and a wide variety of educational, cultural, recreational activities and health-wellness services. The free meals are served Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    • You must live in Miami-Dade County.
    • Not homebound, physically, mentally or medically.
    • Your spouse is eligible without any age restrictions or medical condition.
